Community Art Jam in Vancouver: A Celebration of Music, Creativity, and Connection

On Sunday, August 24, 2025, the plaza at 21st & Main came alive with creativity, laughter, and community spirit. The Community Art Jam Party celebrated the launch of our very first issue of Vancouver On Ink. What began as a small idea grew into a beautiful celebration of art in many forms.

Live Music: A Flight of Sounds

One of the highlights was our carefully curated music lineup — a journey through genres that reflected the diversity of our community.

  • Abraham Wong opened with his violin, weaving the jazzy tunes.
  • James Tseung followed with Jazz and soulful, R&B-inspired storytelling.
  • Violet shared her folk-electronic soundscapes, inspired by travels.
  • Moon Razor transported the plaza with instrumental electronic music, cinematic and immersive.
  • Grandmother, our closing act, brought raw rock energy, filling the air with rhythm and good vibes.

The flow of music was intentional, from strings to soul, from folk to electronic, and finally into rock, giving everyone a taste of something new.

Community Voices and Radio

Thank you WHAM! BAM! East Van Community Radio interviewed our event. Their presence amplified the voices of local artists and connected our neighbourhood to a wider audience.

Creative Corners and Connection

Beyond the stage, the plaza buzzed with activity. Neighbours doodled on long rolls of paper, wrote community poems, browsed a handpicked reading corner, and shared snacks together. These small, hands-on moments reflected the heart of the event: slowing down, connecting, and celebrating creativity in everyday life.

More Art Events To Come…

Thanks to the support of Neighbourhood Small Grants Central Vancouver, our volunteers, local artists, and every neighbour who showed up, the Community Art Jam was a success. Over a hundred people joined throughout the afternoon, and many stayed until the last note faded.

This was more than a party. It was proof that people still crave connection, offline experiences, and spaces where art and community meet.

We look forward to carrying this energy into future issues of Vancouver On Ink and future events that bring stories, music, and creativity to Vancouver.

Thank you for being part of this beginning. Stay tuned for our Winter Edition 2026 issue — and more chances to create and celebrate together.
