A Vancouver Premiere. A Community Series.

On May 23, 2026, we host the Vancouver premiere of Paws Land (毛家) at The Cinematheque. Paws Land (毛家) was filmed between 2019 and 2023. Director Cheuk-man Au follows an animal rescue group on the front lines, not just the animals they save, but the people making difficult decisions with limited resources and uncertain outcomes. It is a film about humanity, about every decision changing a life.

It reveals something quietly powerful about the unseen stories in this city.

If you can, consider purchasing an extra ticket to honour a rescue volunteer and support our community projects.

What They Said About Paws Land

This is beyond a movie screening. The Paws Land Community Series brings together community stories and artwork into an afternoon. We open with an original song playlist written by the community for their animals, followed by a mini film festival of visual letters, then the Vancouver premiere screening of Paws Land.

All attendees receive a free copy of Vancouver On Ink Paws Land Special Edition, featuring local stories and artwork inspired by animals in our neighbourhood.

Want to be part of the programme?

We have an open call for the mini film festival and the opening playlist. Details here.

Vancouver On Ink – Paws Land Edition 2026

Thank you to everyone who submitted to our Open Call. We received many heartfelt stories and artworks. Each one carries a unique connection between people and animals, and together they have shaped something truly meaningful. We have created a special edition of Vancouver On Ink inspired by these contributions.

This edition will be available at the Paws Land screening. All attendees will receive a free copy to take home.

Join us to experience the film, and spend an afternoon with stories that remind us what care, patience, and connection can look like in everyday life. Early bird tickets are now available for a limited time. Get your tickets before they are gone.
