One year ago, we published the first issue of Vancouver On Ink without knowing how far it might go. If no one read it, maybe it would last for just one issue. At least, we tried.
But somehow, we made it to one year!
Since then, Vancouver On Ink has travelled further than we expected, into cafes, community spaces, libraries, events, and the hands of people we had never met before.
Along the way, the stories also moved beyond the page. We doodled and created together at our Community Art Jam, met filmmakers and audiences through the West Coast Mini Film Festival, collaborated with artists and community organizations, and kept discovering new connections around Vancouver.
Our first anniversary issue celebrates some of those connections, while continuing what Vancouver On Ink was created to do: invite you to slow down, stay curious, and discover something outside your usual circle.
Thank you to every writer, artist, photographer, partner, reader and stranger who picked up a copy during our first year.
For our next issue, we are opening a new column about your favourite music and the stories behind it.
